  • New Lore Drop: The Church of Orion & the Holy Northern Duchies

    The archives have opened.

You can now read new lore on the website covering the Church of Orion… its beliefs, sacraments, hierarchy, and the vows of the Hussar Order… alongside expanded pages for the Holy Northern Duchies, including their politics, culture, and the rival houses that keep them sharp.

If you want a clearer picture of what Naissus is (and what it fears), this is the best place to start.

Go explore the new sections now… and keep your eye on the road. The Light is never free.

It’s been deeply rewarding for me as a writer to flesh out the duchies… and the Church, which is so central to the stories. Exploring this world in greater depth has given me a surge of inspiration and a whole slate of new ideas for future books.

But don’t worry: my full focus remains on finishing the sixth and final installment of Pawel’s legend.

Until next time / Markus Vasily Vikander

  • Eastgate is live!

The Duchy of Eastgate now has its own lore page—ready to explore.

Eastgate is Naissus’ hard eastern coast: a land of relentless winds, fertile fields, and harbors that never truly sleep. It is also one of the most religiously shaped regions in the realm—where the Church’s influence is woven into everyday life, where cathedrals and abbeys rise like landmarks of power, and where old fears still cast long shadows.

    On the page you’ll find:

    • A rich overview of Eastgate’s origin and identity
    • The capital Jarosgrad and its place as both port-city and holy seat
    • The duchy’s three regions: Wind HillsHinterlands, and Southlands
    • Key cities and the baronial houses that rule them—each with their own history, duties, and reputation

If you’re following the Naissus saga, this is one of the most important pieces of the map to know—because Eastgate is more than a borderland.

    It’s a gate.

    And gates are never neutral.

  • Threads In The Twilight: A Naissus Legend 5

After Christmas and New Year, the release of the next installment in the Naissus series is drawing near. We in the team are proud and excited to announce the next chapter in the Naissus saga: Threads in the Twilight: A Naissus Legend V.

The book is now available for pre-order on Amazon and will be officially released on January 25th.

In this installment, we follow Pawel on his journey to the island of Narva in search of self-discovery and healing the scars he carries. Years of dutiful service have taken their toll, and on Narva he hopes to find answers to what troubles him deep within his soul. At the same time, Ivan has begun rebuilding the Order in the Duchy of Duskhaven. He struggles with his new role as Captain of the Order, stepping out of Pawel’s shadow and growing from apprentice into leader.

As the author, together with our editor Morgan Wyn-Jones, I am very pleased with the result, and we hope you will be just as satisfied as we move closer to the conclusion of this series.

But fear not! One climactic final installment still remains after this book, and this summer we will also see the release of the first novel in the main series: The Knight and the Queen.

  • Two More Great Houses Unveiled: Hardrade & Ztratt

As we move closer to the release of; A Naissus Legend 5, two new lore entries have been added to the archive—spotlighting House Hardrade of Narva and House Ztratt of Duskhaven.

House Hardrade — Lords of Narva

Born of salt and storm, the Varangers of Narva are a people whose history lives in spoken saga, not ink. Their dukes rule from a hall named for weather and war, and even in peacetime the island feels like it is bracing for impact.

In the new entry, you’ll read how the first Hardrade was raised to power by Orion himself—and how the current duke, Hrafn Hardrade, became both a weapon against the Nazhirites… and a liability no court dares to fully embrace.

House Ztratt — Dukes of Duskhaven

House Ztratt did not begin as a Great House. They clawed their way into that rank through legend, steel, and the refusal to bend. From the ancient tale of the Sword of the Dusk to the founding of Duskhaven as a sanctuary at the edge of darkness, their history is bound to the southern line—where Naissus holds back what should not be allowed to pass.

And at the heart of it stands Duke Waldemar Ztratt, the Old Fox—respected across the realm, feared by his enemies, and backed by alliances strong enough to make even proud lords think twice.

Both houses sit on the borders of comfort—one facing the Emerald sea, the other facing the long dusk—and both remind Naissus of the same truth: the realm survives because some families are willing to stand where others won’t.

The new lore entries are live now. Dive in… and keep an eye on the horizon.

  • Website Update: Explore The Holy Northern Duchies

A new lore section is now live on the website: The Holy Northern Duchies. The setting for the Naissus Legend series.

You can already start reading about the Duchy of Lublin—its origins, regions, and the forces that shaped its capital into the largest city and one of the most important powers in Naissus.

This is only the beginning. The section will be updated continuously, with detailed maps and expanded information for every duchy—from their borders and capitals to their ruling houses, cultures, and conflicts.

Check back soon as the world of Naissus grows page by page.

  • Happy New Year, dear readers!

Christmas and New Year are an intense period for me for several reasons. As an autistic person, I have a somewhat limited social battery, so a time filled with many social demands in a short span is, to say the least, draining. To add another challenge, I also happen to be born on January 2nd!

Now that I’ve more or less begun to recover… and with Swedish holidays behind me for a couple of months… it’s time to return to the work of bringing the world of Naissus to you who appreciate it as much as I do, and perhaps even more (for which I am incredibly grateful).

So, what’s in the pipeline for 2026?

During January and February, the final parts of Pawel’s short novella collection will be released. At this very moment, Morgan Wyn Jones is editing Part Five, and before long you can expect both the title and cover reveal. We plan to release the novella toward the end of January.

In the summer of 2026, you can expect the first installment of the main series. Unlike the short novellas, this is a full-length Epic Fantasy novel, of the scope and size expected from the genre. I have been working on this novel for just over three years, and it is nearly complete. We are currently polishing the fourth draft, and we truly believe we will be proud of the final result.

In addition to this, the website will be updated with more lore for the fantasy enthusiasts. At present, you can already read a summary of Naissus’s history, as well as information about some of the great families that shaped its political landscape and play central roles in the greater saga.

Over the course of the year, we will also release information about the history and structure of each duchy. You can also look forward to detailed maps of every duchy. Thanks to your support, I’ve been able to invest in these maps… once again, my sincere thanks to you, dear readers.

Furthermore, we will be adding information about both the Church and the structure and history of the Hussar Order.

These are my and Morgan’s goals for 2026.

Finally, I want to thank you all for your support… for the books you’ve purchased and for the thoughts you’ve shared about the works on Goodreads, through direct emails to us, and on Amazon. It truly warms my heart. It has been my dream for many years to bring this fantasy world to life. I could never have imagined that my books would receive this kind of response at all… especially not so quickly.

So, in Orion’s sacred name, I wish you all a truly Happy New Year. May his light guide you through the darkness.

In Naissus, the anniversary of the River’s Peace marks the beginning of the new year. It is a time to remember the sacrifices made to secure the Promised Land of Naissus, to wish one another good fortune for the coming year, and to seek Orion’s guidance for what lies ahead. In keeping with this tradition, I encourage you all to remember the trials of your ancestors, to thank your parents for the life they have given you. Life is not always perfect, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. One step at a time is all it takes to reach it.

We will meet again in the light.

  • A Sneak release this Christmas season – 2nd edition Cursed Child

Although the people of Naissus don’t celebrate Christmas (pretty reasonable since they follow the Religion of Orion and some other minor faiths, and not Christianity) we however felt that you all deserved a Christmas treat.

Very soon you will be able to read the 2nd edition of The Cursed Child: A Naissus Legend 1.

How does this work in practice? Well, if you own the Kindle Edition, simply update your kindle library and it will automatically download the new edition, are you a paperback customer? Then simply send a copy of your receipt to: Info@naissusbooks.com And we will send you a free E-book (PDF or Epub, depending on your preference.)

Unfortunately, due to printing costs and logistics through Amazon, we cant send a new copy of the print edition.

The files have been uploaded to Amazon and within 72 hours it will ba available for you all!

So what is the 2nd edition? besides a new copy, what is new? I thought we would let our editor Morgan answer that with the foreword from the 2nd edition:

    Foreword to the second edition

We are pleased to see how the world of Naisuss is slowly but surely finding its audience. When I was first introduced to this setting, it was immediately clear that this story had the potential to become a classic.

The world-building is extensive, presenting a world that feels lived in and internally consistent. It exists not merely to serve the plot but seems to persist outside of it as well. This is an aspect that is sometimes overlooked but crucial for high-quality fantasy. The characters are equally well developed, each with their own motivations and unique voices. They exist as real people rather than caricatures, a quality that became all the more apparent in later installments as the world expanded and their inner lives were explored more deeply through dialogue and perspective.

As the series progressed, and as I had the pleasure of editing the later installments, “The Price of Pride” and “The Weight of the Sword”, it became clear that the first novella, although still strong, appeared slightly less polished. This observation was echoed in the thoughtful and valuable feedback we received from readers. As quality and reader satisfaction are of utmost importance, such feedback is always taken seriously.

Even more importantly, as the story and world that Vikander has created continue to grow and deepen it is essential that the entire series receives the same care and attention.

For that reason, we decided the first novella deserved further refinement and polish to bring it fully in line with the rest of the work. Something I am confident has now been achieved. The plot remains unchanged, so readers of the first edition have missed nothing.

Our hope is merely that this revised edition provides a smoother and more consistent reading experience, allowing the prose to flow more naturally and the characters and environment to feel even more vivid and alive. I wish you an engaging and rewarding read!

  • I now have a Patreon!

    Hello everyone!

After many recommendations from readers and friends, I’ve finally decided to give Patreon a try.

I’m stepping into this space with excitement (and a little nervousness!), but my hope is that it becomes a place where I can share more of my journey with you.

To start, I’ll be posting updates on my writing progress: behind-the-scenes thoughts, blog-style reflections on the creative process, and insights into how the world of Naissus grows one page at a time.

I’m also completely open to suggestions about what you would like to see here. Your feedback will shape this space as much as my pen does.

At the end of September, I published my first book, The Cursed Child – A Naissus Legend, and I still struggle to put into words how grateful I am for the response it (and the following books) have received. Seeing readers connect with my work, and discovering how many of you share my passion for Naissus, motivates me to push even harder.

This truly feels like the beginning of an incredible journey, and you are the ones making it possible.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
